Navigating Warranties, Recalls, and Insurance Work at Accomplished Auto

At Accomplished Auto, we often get asked a very common question: "Do you handle warranty work, recalls, or insurance claims?" The answer is both simple and complicated, so we wanted to take a moment to explain how it works.

Manufacturer Warranties and Recalls

If your vehicle is still covered under the factory warranty or you've received a recall notice, the work typically needs to be done at the dealer. The reason for this is simple: we have no easy way to get reimbursed by the manufacturer for these repairs. However, that doesn't mean we can't help you in other ways.

Before you make that sometimes lengthy appointment at the dealership, it's often a good idea to bring your vehicle to us first. We can diagnose the issue and determine whether it might be covered by a manufacturer recall, warranty, or even a technical service bulletin (TSB). TSBs are issued by manufacturers when certain problems become common enough that they recognize a pattern of failure. These bulletins

provide detailed information about the issue and its potential solutions. Sometimes, a TSB will even result in an extended warranty on the affected parts, but this is not always guaranteed. If we discover that your issue falls into one of these categories, we will stop at the initial diagnosis and recommend that you head to the dealer for a no-cost or potentially reduced-cost repair.

Aftermarket Extended Warranties

If you have purchased an aftermarket extended warranty, the situation changes a bit. In most cases, we can work with these warranty companies to cover your repair. However, it's important to understand that these companies often make the reimbursement process challenging. After spending hours negotiating and dealing with them, they may still only agree to pay a portion of the repair costs. When that happens, we will advocate as strongly as possible on your behalf, but you may still be responsible for covering the difference in labor rates or parts costs.

Some aftermarket warranties sold directly by dealers or those that are self-funded may require that you return to the issuing dealer for covered repairs. Again, we do everything we can to make this process as painless as possible for you, even if it means spending hours on the phone or asking you to make a call yourself to help move things along.

Insurance Claims

While we don't handle body work, there are times when a mechanical issue caused by an accident can be covered by insurance. In these cases, the process is similar to working with an aftermarket warranty company. We will communicate with your insurance company and advocate for you, but as with warranties, insurance companies may not cover 100% of the repair cost.

Our Commitment

Our ultimate goal is to save you time, money, and frustration. Whenever possible, we will research and verify whether your issue might be covered under some type of warranty or recall before performing costly repairs. And when it comes to dealing with extended warranty companies or insurance providers, we act as your advocate, doing everything we can to get as much of the repair covered as possible.

If you're ever unsure whether your repair might be covered by a warranty, recall, or insurance, don't hesitate to contact us. We're here to help you navigate the complicated world of automotive repairs and get you back on the road as quickly and affordably as possible.
